Already after my first visit in Uzbekistan I had the wish to thank for the incredible hospitality. Since I also engage in other social activities, it was clear to me that I wanted to make a social and sustainable project. But it stayed with an idea and first the graduation had priority. During my second visit, the idea became a bit more concrete. I knew that I wanted to do a women's project. Since I'm very interested in arts and crafts and some crafts, such as fabric weaving, carpet knitting and Suzani embroidery, mostly or exclusively are practiced by women, I knew that I would like to start a project in this area. In addition, I got the support from a friend from Samarkand, who has the same plans. He has already bought a piece of land where we would like to build a manufactory.
Since such a construction and the equipment are not inexpensive, we are now to draw attention to our project and to raise money (e.g. I work in Switzerland to save some money for the project). During my third visit, I also took some Uzbek products to Switzerland to sell and promote Uzbekistan and our project. 1/3 of the revenue will be invested in the project. Now we are setting up an association and hopefully we'll be able to start the project as soon as possible. For ideas and help (such as helpful contacts) we are open.
We already had a first small success. Last Monday (15th July 2019) an article about me, how I came to Uzbekistan and about the project appeared in the local newspaper (link below). I was very happy when I saw the article on the second page (!). Thank you Thuner Tagblatt!

In the meanwhile I founded a club and created a Facebook site. There you see all upcoming events, for example where my next information event including selling Uzbek products will take place. (So far just in Switzerland). Furthermore I created a small online shop. But I have to add more products.

Doch das ganze blieb erstmals bei einer Idee und der Studiumabschluss hatte Priorität. Während meinem zweiten Besuch wurde die Idee schon etwas konkreter. Ich wusste, dass ich Frauenprojekt machen möchte. Da ich mich sehr fürs Kunsthandwerk interessiere und einige Handwerke, wie Stoffweben, Teppichknüpfen und Suzani-Stickerei, mehrheitlich oder ausschliesslich von Frauen ausgeübt werden, wusste ich, dass ich in diesem Bereich ein Projekt starten möchte. Ausserdem bekam ich die Unterstützung von einem Freund aus Samarkand, welcher die gleichen Pläne hat. Er hat bereits ein Grundstück gekauft, wo wir eine Manufaktur aufbauen möchten.
Da so ein Bau sowie die Einrichtung nicht gerade kostengünstig sind, sind wir nun daran auf unser Projekt aufmerksam zu machen und Geld zu sammeln (z.B. arbeite ich in der Schweiz um Geld für das Projekt zu sparen). Während meines dritten Besuchs habe ich zudem einige usbekische Produkte mit in die Schweiz genommen, um sie hier zu verkaufen und Usbekistan sowie unser Projekt bekannt zu machen. 1/3 der Einnahmen werden ins Projektinvestiert. Nun sind wir daran einen Verein zu gründen und hoffentlich kommt unser Projekt bald ins Laufen. Für Ideen und Hilfe (wie z.B. hilfreiche Kontakte) sind wir offen.
Einen ersten kleinen Erfolg hatten wir, respektive ich, bereits. Letzen Montag (15.07.2019) erschien in der lokalen Zeitung (Link oben) ein Artikel über mich, wie ich nach Usbekistan kam und über das Projekt. Ich hatte eine riesen Freude als ich den Artikel dann auf der zweiten Seite (!) sehen konnte. Danke Thuner Tagblatt!
Besuche zudem unseren Rahmat Instagram-Account. Dort erhälst Du mehr Informationen über das Projekt und die Produkte, die ich momentan verkaufe. Eigentlich bevorzuge ich den persönlichen Kontakt mit den Kunden, aber wenn Dir etwas gefällen sollte, schicke ich Dir das gerne.
